Tony winner Faith Prince will join the Broadway cast of Disney's The Little Mermaid as the evil sea witch Ursula beginning April 7. She will replace Heidi Blickenstaff, who will play her last performance on April 5 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Prince most recently starred on Broadway in A Catered Affair, a role that brought her a Tony nomination. She won a Tony as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and was nominated for her performances in Bells Are Ringing and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include Noises Off, The Dead, Little Me, The King and I, What’s Wrong With This Picture? and Nick & Nora. Off-Broadway, she created roles in the original cast of Falsettoland and A Man of No Importance and regionally, she starred in the world premiere of Terrence McNally’s Unusual Acts of Devotion. Her TV credits include recurring roles in Huff and Spin City.
Directed by Francesca Zambello, the stage version of The Little Mermaid opened on Broadway on January 10, 2008, with Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula. It features a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater.
